Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) offers students a comprehensive overview of all the components of information technology. The core curriculum introduces students to the principles of database and security, cloud computing, web design, business intelligence, data analytics, interpersonal skills, programming, software development, and more.

Program Learning Outcomes

Develop a foundation of applicable skills and knowledge that promote life-long learning, academic and professional achievement, and Christian beliefs and practices.
Apply Christian ethics to the concepts, theories, and analytical methods in the functional areas of business administration, organizational behavior, and information technology.
Demonstrate an understanding of computer architecture, networking principles, social media functionalities, and database management.
Design and develop programs for computers, web, and mobile platforms.
Apply IT security principles to protect data for individuals and organizations.

How do I Apply?

To apply, please click here to complete the admissions application and upload all required supporting documents at least 15 days before the start of your chosen term: Fall, Winter, Spring, or Summer. The exact start date for each term will be posted on the university website.

After admission, an academic advisor will assist you with course selection for the upcoming term. All new undergraduate students must take ACD 101 – Skills for Academic Success, and new graduate students are required to take ACD 500 – Masters Level Success. These courses are designed to help students build skills for success throughout their program.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS

The School of Arts & Sciences (SAS) delivers its programs in English. Applicants are required to prove English language proficiency through one of the following:

High school transcripts (for bachelor’s program applicants) from an institution where instruction is conducted in English.
Bachelor’s degree transcripts (for master’s program applicants) from a previously attended college or university with programs taught in English.
Submission of an official English proficiency test score:
Bachelor’s program applicants: Minimum scores of 6.0 on IELTS, 57 on TOEFL, 55 on EF-SET, or equivalent.
Master’s program applicants: Minimum scores of 6.5 on IELTS, 60 on TOEFL, 60 on EF-SET, or equivalent.

Conditional Admission: Applicants who do not provide evidence of English proficiency may be considered for conditional admission. After completing four trial courses, students will be fully admitted if they achieve an average grade of at least C for undergraduate programs or B for graduate programs.

HOW DO I STUDY ONLINE?

Once enrolled in the Union University of California School of Arts and Sciences, you will be provided with access to online systems including the online classrooms, digital textbooks, and library databases.

You will be provided with a username and password to help you access these online systems. Specifically, the online classroom system is called Moodle, and you will access Moodle using the provided username and password.

Once in Moodle, you will see a dashboard that allows you to enter your courses and complete the assignments. UUC online classrooms consist of both self-guided exercises and asynchronous interactions with your instructors and fellow classmates. You will also have the opportunity to connect with your instructors in real-time during office hours and other scheduled offerings.

To complete each course, you simply work through the course materials and assignments at your own pace. Common assignments you will encounter include asynchronous discussion boards, videos and lectures, research and application exercises, and quizzes and exams.

When did online education begin?

Online education began to gain momentum in the 1990s with the arrival of the Internet and web-based courses. Universities started to offer online degrees and classes during this period. Noteworthy milestones include:

Between 1993 and 1994, several institutions launched the first online degree programs and courses.
From 1997 to 1998, commercial platforms for online learning and learning management systems (LMS) became more widely used.
In the 2000s, LMS platforms such as Moodle (released in 2002) and Blackboard became standard tools for delivering online courses.

How popular is online education?

Around 60–70% of students report taking some online courses each term, while about 15–25% are enrolled exclusively in online programs. According to national surveys from NCES and other higher education associations, most larger universities now offer online degree options, and enrollment in online bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs continues to grow each year.

How effective is online education?

Research shows that online and blended learning can be just as effective as traditional classroom instruction. Studies often find blended learning yields the most significant improvements. Key references include:

Persyaratan Kemahiran Bahasa Inggris

Union University of California School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) menyelenggarakan programnya dalam Bahasa Inggris. Pelamar diwajibkan untuk membuktikan kemahiran Bahasa Inggris melalui salah satu cara berikut:

Bagaimana Cara Belajar Daring?

Làm thế nào để đăng ký nhập học?

Khi vào Moodle, bạn sẽ thấy một bảng điều khiển (dashboard) cho phép bạn truy cập các môn học và hoàn thành bài tập. Các phòng học trực tuyến của UUC bao gồm cả các bài tập tự hướng dẫn và các tương tác không đồng bộ (asynchronous interactions) với giảng viên và các bạn học. Bạn cũng sẽ có cơ hội kết nối với giảng viên của mình theo thời gian thực (real-time) trong giờ tư vấn (office hours) và các hoạt động theo lịch trình khác.

Để hoàn thành mỗi môn học, bạn chỉ cần làm theo tài liệu khóa học và bài tập theo tốc độ của riêng mình. Các bài tập thường gặp bao gồm diễn đàn thảo luận không đồng bộ, video và bài giảng, các bài tập nghiên cứu và ứng dụng, cùng với các bài kiểm tra và thi cuối khóa.

Làm thế nào để yêu cầu cấp bảng điểm?

Bảng điểm không chính thức: Trong Cổng thông tin học viên, vui lòng chọn “Bảng điểm không chính thức,” bạn có thể tải xuống và in bất cứ lúc nào. Bảng điểm không chính thức không được Văn phòng Đăng ký học vụ của UUC xem xét và ký xác nhận chính thức.

Bảng điểm chính thức: Trong Cổng thông tin học viên, vui lòng chọn “Yêu cầu cấp bảng điểm chính thức” và thanh toán phí. Hai bản bảng điểm chính thức sẽ được gửi đến địa chỉ của bạn trong vòng 15 ngày. Lưu ý: Việc gửi thư quốc tế có thể mất nhiều thời gian hơn, tùy thuộc vào dịch vụ bưu chính địa phương.

Làm thế nào để thực hiện một khoản đóng góp?
